Owner & Founder

My name is Giulia (pronounced "Julia") and I am originally from Padua, Italy. I fell in love with the rolling fields of the Kentucky Bluegrass in 2008,  and I finally moved to Lexington, KY at the end of 2011. I now live here with my husband; our young daughter; a Labrador mix called Lily; an Amstaff mix called Kronk; and (off-site, for now) a retired Thoroughbred racehorse called Leonidas.

I am a graduate of the University of Padua (Italy) with a B.A. in Communications. I am also a graduate of IULM University of Milan (Italy) with a M.A. in Television, Cinema and Multimedia Production.

My professional experience covers a broad spectrum of marketing and communications services, including graphic design for digital and print advertising, web design, social media marketing content, digital advertising, logo and brand development, and more.

When I am not sitting behind my computer, I can be found chasing after my little girl or horsing around with Lily, Kronk and Leo.

Fun Facts

My family is the reason I created HeartWork Communications, and my logo is modeled after the furry components of my household.

Leonidas became our first four-legged family member in the spring of 2014. A 2005 Thoroughbred gelding, his registered Jockey Club name is Golden Country and he is a Multiple Graded Stakes Winner with 35 starts and over $340K in earnings. I renamed him Leonidas (like the king of Sparta) because he takes everything in stride - even a crazy family photoshoot - and carries himself like a veteran soldier. In his second career off the track, "Leo" is an eventer and shows under the name King's Landing (from the popular book series and TV show, Game of Thrones).

Lily became the second four-legged member of our family in the fall of 2014, only a few months after Leo. Lily alternates between Audrey Hepburn moments and moody teenager attitude (see picture). She loves ALL THE PEOPLE, especially if there is a chance they might throw a ball for her. Lily isn't always thrilled about being a big sister and about sharing the spotlight (see picture again), but both her canine and human siblings adore her. She is named after Lily Evans Potter, Harry Potter's muggle mother.

Finally, Kronk joined the household in the spring of 2017 as a prime example of Foster Failure. Adopting him while I was 7 months pregnant may not have been our smartest decision to date, but it was definitely the right one! He is an amazing big brother to his human sister and the two of them together are just the most adorable thing you ever did see. Kronk's breed is like Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans - it encompasses American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, Husky and the famous 75-Pound Lapdog! Kronk is aptly named after the goofy (former) henchman from Disney's animated feature, "The Emperor's New Groove".
